The Skeleton Prince

Eons ago, terrible beings known as the Dark Ones threatened all of existence.  The majority of these inter-dimensional demons were sealed away in the Netherworld by the Order of the Verron Mystics, who also trapped many of these demons within the cores of countless planets.  Yet even after, their task was far from done.  The Mystics could sense the Dark Ones touch upon the galaxy, their evil lingering in the cosmos.  Thus, the Order stood guard, kept the corruption from spreading, watching for anything that could disturb the seals that held the Dark Ones at bay.

However, the Order's diligence would go wasted, as the demons had begun to plan for their future escape.  They would be patient...their freedom, and the destruction of all created things, would come.

It began so simply, such a small thing it's no wonder the Order didn't notice it, and by the time they did it was too late.  Upon a small world, a child was born.  While Life itself is a miracle, this child appeared as any other.  At first glance, there was nothing special about this child.  He grew up, he lived, he grew old and then he died.

But a hundred years later, he was reborn.

Again he grew up, he lived, grew old and died.  One hundred years later, he was born again.
This repeated and continued for thousands of years, the poor creature able to remember, in great detail, every life he had ever lived.  This gradually caused an imbalance in his mind, made him more vulnerable to outside forces.  But there was a method to this madness.

For each life this being lived, the Dark Ones would slowly corrupt and twist his soul, until all that remained was a puppet to their cause.  Eventually that being, once a pure and innocent soul, had become a monster.  His only desire: to spread evil across the galaxy.

Of course, such a being needed a name.  One that would strike fear in all that heard it, and garner respect from those who would follow him.  A name fitting to an emissary of the Dark Ones...

He was called...The Skeleton Prince.

By that point in time, the reincarnation cycle forced upon him was no longer necessary, and the Dark Ones lifted the curse of 'Death and Rebirth', their touch having already made him an Undead entity; he was virtually immortal.

Now armed with the powers of darkness and evil, the Prince set out on his mission; to bring the Galaxy to it's knees, whether as a conqueror or a destroyer hardly mattered in the end.  One by one, planets fell before him.  Whole kingdoms and empires crumbled under his might.  Those who swore loyalty to him were spared, and those who defied him were quickly slaughtered.  Amidst the growing chaos, the Verron Mystics...vanished.  No one could find them, and all who searched, did so in vain.  Most believed that the Prince had found the Order and destroyed them, and others thought the Mystics had abandoned the Galaxy to save their own hides.  Some still believed there was hope, that the Order had a plan to save the Galaxy, to save them from the Skeleton Prince...but as more planets fell, even that hope began to fade.

Decades passed in this manner, the Skeleton Prince attacked and corrupted many worlds, forming an unstoppable Empire that extended across the Galaxy.  His creations, monsters that obeyed his every command, stalked the streets of thousands of cities, hundreds of planets cowering under his menacing gaze.

Hope had all but died in the Galaxy, as it's denizens slowly gave in to despair and darkness...

Imagine the Prince's surprise and rage when he heard, and felt, his influence suddenly die on several worlds.  His monsters were destroyed, his dark touch lifted from the planets and their inhabitants.  Unsurprisingly, he ordered that whomever was responsible be found and killed.  But it was not to be;  his creatures failed again and again, and with each failure another system was freed of his power.  Who could possibly be foolish enough to defy him?  Soon enough, he got his answer.  A group of warriors were traveling from system to system, freeing the planets from his evil, wielding a familiar power...a power that the Prince would be a fool not to recognize.

The Power Primate.

The Skeleton Prince was furious, not just at the Verron Mystics, but with himself as well.  Why hadn't he destroyed them when he had the chance?  It didn't matter anymore, as the warriors were bringing the fight to him.  They chased him across the Galaxy, freeing many planets as they went and obliterating the Prince's forces, determined to rid the Universe of his evil.  The Prince didn't run for long, and when he stopped running, he found himself cornered at his home base, a castle formed of bone and obsidian.  The Skeleton Prince sent his most powerful creatures to weaken the warriors, before jumping into battle himself.

It was a long, grueling battle.  Black ooze and different colors of blood stained the battlefield as twilight fell.  Several of the warriors had been slain by the Prince's monsters, and the seven surviving warriors were greatly weakened.  But, even weakened, the warriors refused to give up.  They were determined to defeat the Prince and free the Galaxy from his hand.  The Prince himself was also weakened from the battle, and retreated into his fortress, hoping to stall for time so he could recover.

The warriors pursued the undead monarch, cornering him in the inner sanctum of his castle.  Though weakened, the Prince had little trouble throwing the warriors aside.  Things seemed hopeless...  Surprisingly, it was the weakest member of the group that saved the others and gave them strength.  With his encouragement, the other six warriors pooled their remaining energy together and merged it with his, giving him the power to defeat the Skeleton Prince.  In the final battle that followed, the warrior triumphed, destroying the Prince's body and splitting his power into six parts.

With the last of his strength, the warrior sealed the Skeleton Prince's soul and the fragments of his power into six items the Prince owned:  a crystal Pendent, his bone Crown, his Armor, his Gauntlets, his Cloak and his Sword.  His soul was sealed into the Pendent, with one fragment of his power.

Sadly, the warrior gave all he had to perform the Sealing Ritual, and died shortly after it was complete.  Though saddened by the loss of their brother, the other six warriors had one last thing to do before they could go home.  They gathered the items that now carried the Skeleton Prince's powers and scattered them across the Galaxy, to the most dangerous and uninhabitable planets they could find; they hid the items away where hopefully no one would ever find them.

...What became of the Warriors after that?  None remain who know.

No one has dared set foot in the Prince's former kingdom since then.  Rumors say that the fortress is still standing, waiting for its master to return.  Others say the planet is haunted by the remnants of his monsters.  Some say the Skeleton Prince is no more, that when his powers were sealed his soul was destroyed.  Many claim the Prince never existed at all.  Yet, in the centuries that followed, evil still lingered in the shadows, whispering about a 'prophecy' of some kind.  One that told of a way to resurrect the Skeleton Prince.

It claimed that in order to revive the Prince, one must find all of the items that hold his power, and bring them to the place of his demise...and where the original Sealing Ritual took place.  Only a few ancient beings still live who know the location of the items, but the Pendent went missing long ago, and still hasn't been found.  Those who searched for it either came up empty-handed or were never heard from again.

Still, just bringing the items to the place of the Skeleton Prince's defeat wouldn't be enough to revive him.  Those trying to revive him would need one more vital thing...but no one knows what it could be.

Small Details not mentioned above:

As a result of the sealing, the items each gained special powers based on what the Prince was originally capable of.

1).  The Crystal Pendent, the vessel of the Skeleton Prince's soul, contains the very essence of his evil, and can be used to take control of the weak-minded/hearted.  It can be used on a stronger person, but with that person actively resisting it's power, it becomes obvious that person is being controlled.

2).  The Bone Crown holds the Prince's Psychic/Psychokinetic powers;
*Telepathy-- Transfer of thoughts.
*Telekinesis-- Manipulation of matter or energy by the power of the mind.
*Aura Reading-- Perception of the energy fields surrounding people, places, and things.
*Astral projection-- An out-of-body experience in which an "astral body" becomes separate from the physical body.
*Remote Viewing-- Gathering of information at a distance.
*Dowsing-- Ability to locate objects.

3).  The Armor possesses the Prince's defensive magic;  energy shields, illusions, and increased agility and durability.

4).  The Gauntlets carry the Prince's offensive magic;  energy and elemental-based attacks.

5).  The Cloak, despite the power fragment, only seems to possess it's original power, that of turning into a pair of large dragon/bat wings when needed.  (Like Meta Knight's cape, from Kirby.)

6).  The Sword, an elemental weapon forged from the cold depths of space, held the Prince's power to create monsters from virtually anything.  Even without this power, the sword alone is extremely dangerous.  Unrestrained it could turn a small moon into a ball of barren ice.  When the Warriors hid the sword, they simply impaled it in the ground on an uninhabitable world, and the sword's power turned half the planet into a frozen wasteland. Worse, the sword created monsters made of ice, bone and rock that guarded the planet's surface.  In order to remove the sword, one must possess it's sheath, which protects the person from the sword's power.  Not so much from the monsters though...

An actual story summary for whomever chooses to expand on this:

The Skeleton King wasn't the first emissary of the Dark Ones...there was another, a Prince who nearly succeeded in conquering the galaxy before he was defeated.  But when Valina, Mandarin and the Hyperforce discover an old prophecy foretelling the Prince's return, it's a battle against all odds as they search for the keys to his resurrection.  However, the one vital piece to the puzzle is the last thing they ever would've expected...
This is really just the result of me being annoyed with particular authors on FanFiction.Net, and being genuinely curious about the possibilities surrounding the concept of the 'Skeleton Prince' character made up by fans.

Ahem, this whole story is more of a concept; an mere idea of where the 'Skeleton Prince' could've come from and what happened to him. I've no intentions of going any further with this, and I'm only submitting it in the hopes of giving other fans of the show a starting point for Fan-Fictions.

If anyone is truly interested, you must ask permission to use and/or edit this story/character concept. If you have any questions about the story, send me a Note and I will get back to you.

Again, I'M NOT GOING TO EXPAND ON THIS STORY! IT'S A CONCEPT FOR OTHERS TO USE/EDIT FOR THEIR OWN STORIES! Thank you for your time, have a nice day.

This story/character concept belongs to me, but I'm willing to share it.
